These kids/parents are really good subjects. If you're thinking about doing kids photography you need to get to know the kids. If you don't want to get to know them you can always step back and let the parents play with them as you sniper shoot from the bushes.
I find that with most young kids it's hard to make them pose very much. I had maybe two pictures where I asked her to do a certain thing. Other than that, she decided where to go and (with some minor direction) how to pose.
